Donate to become a VIP
Want access to the VIP area at Thomas Jack on Saturday, August 27 in Long Beach?
All you have to do is be one of the first 100 people to donate your old smartphone, laptop or tablet to SBNN's #PowerOn campaign.
Seriously. It only takes one of those old, cracked-screen iPhones that has probably been collecting dust in your drawer.
The first 100 people to donate an old smartphone, laptop or tablet on the day of the event will gain access to the roped-off VIP area near the stage. AND, you'll be helping a great cause.
Here's the scoop:
We take that old piece of junk and turn it into a badass piece of machinery that is put into the hands of one of the LGBT communities' most vulnerable populations, homeless youth.
Did you know that nearly 40 percent of America's homeless youth identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender? That's nearly 650,000 LGBT youth on America's streets at any given moment!
Here's how we do it:
First, we completely destroy all of your sensitive and personal data. Our data destruction policy is compliant with the Department of Defense, HIPAA, GLBA, FACTA, FISMA, PIPEDA, SOX and all those other guidelines.
Then, we refurbish your device. If we can't get it to work, we'll use its parts for other tech donations. Think of it like a socially good Transformer.
The last thing we do before sending it out is stockpile it with amazing resources to help our recipients. Things like safe places to go, numbers to talk to people who can help, etc.
Then, your old, once-dusty piece of technology is lookin' brand new and sent off to someone it really needs it, ending up in places like youth homeless shelters, resource centers and schools.
